ASSESSMENT
I provide diagnostic and assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults. This includes diagnostic evaluations for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) as well as for the full range of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders; neuropsychological assessment to assist with diagnostic clarification and educational programming; and independent educational evaluations (IEE). Assessment typically includes the individual as well as members of their family and others on their treatment and school teams.
TREATMENT
My theoretical orientation is drawn from behavioral, neuro-developmental, cognitive-behavioral, and psycho-educational approaches. My focus is on teaching children and families concrete skills so they can more effectively manage their emotions and behavior at home, school, and in the community. My goal is for children and families to achieve their optimal social-emotional, behavioral, adaptive, and academic levels of functioning. My approach is tailored to the needs of each child and family, and the treatments I utilize are always those with the greatest evidence base (i.e., have the most empirical support for their effectiveness).
CONSULTATION
I frequently provide consultation to both private and public schools to assist with setting goals and expectations, improving specificity of IEP goals, implementing behavior plans, and identifying and teaching strategies to increase motivation and engagement. I also provide consultation to clinics and individual providers around working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
TALKS
I have extensive experience giving talks, lectures, and workshops on a range of topics related to developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. I have given lectures for over 20 years to health professionals, academics, students and residents, school districts, parent groups, and others in the community. Please contact me if you have any questions about my availability for speaking engagements.
